A Message of Hope
To anyone who is struggling right now,
We at Just me, I am me mental health forum wished to write this message of hope for those of you who are currently struggling in your lives. Although we understand that we do not know you or the current struggles that you may currently be facing, we want you to know that we care, and this message of hope has been written to provide you with the support you need to find the strength and courage to move past these current struggles in your lives.
Why do we care? We care because many of us have been in your shoes. Although everybody experiences pain differently, we understand how it feels to feel like every day is a battle. That there is no point in trying as it is hopeless. Feeling absorbed by grief, despair, fear, or loneliness. You may feel there is nothing left in your life worth fighting for, feeling complete hopelessness and lost. That things will never get better, that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. But there is, we have made it through dark times and want to let you know that you will too.
If you’re in a dark place today, that’s ok! Feel your feelings. Breathe. Be gentle with yourself, you are doing the best you can. It is ok to feel what you are feeling, your feelings are valid, don’t let anybody tell you that they aren’t. It won’t be easy, there will be days when you want to throw in the towel. It will hurt. It will take time, but I promise the effort is worth it.
We want you to know that the dark times do not last, although it might not feel like it right now, but your future is very bright, you won’t feel pain every day. One day you will wake up and feel happy and you will enjoy living your life to the fullest. These things take time, please allow yourself the time to heal. Never forget how far you have come, and everything you have gotten through already. All the times when you have pushed on when you felt that you couldn’t, all the times you didn’t want to leave your bed, but you still made it through the day. Never forget that strength you have shown daily. Use this strength to aid your recovery, and don’t feel ashamed seeking help.
Asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do, so please seek the help that you need and deserve. Whether it is talking to your family or friends, visiting your local GP, calling the Samaritans or other counselling services, let these people help you find a refuge and help you to ignite that spark of hope for a bright and positive future.
Always remember, you are not alone. We care.
